Ann Rugh Baker of Carmel Valley, California, was born in San Francisco in 1930. After moving to the Monterey Peninsula she met and married Eugene Ames Baker (also and artist) and studied at the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland. She focuses on "folk art abstraction with acrylic paints. Her subject matter contains images of early California, particularly the Monterey Peninsula. Baker has been a long-time member of the Carmel Art Association where they began to showcase their art (1972). other galleries where he art had been shown include the Castle Gallery in Santa Cruz, and the Habitat Gallery in San Francisco. She has also participated in shows at the Lodi Grape Festival, and the Monterey County Fair.
